Heaven is a breathtakingly beautiful place. It’s a destination you can’t afford to miss. The description of heaven in Revelation 21:18-23 reminds me of a dream I had some years back. I was tired and decided to take a nap. As soon as I drifted off, I found myself in a magnificent city with towering mansions. The buildings were made of gold, the streets were paved with gold, and even the gutters and flowers were gold. The city shone brighter than daytime. I’m convinced it was heaven. God showed me this glimpse to let me know it’s real. But as I was enjoying the beauty, I woke up and realized it was just a dream. I wondered why God didn’t let me stay.
Heaven isn’t for everyone. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” See also Matthew 7:21, 22:14; Galatians 5:19-21; Revelation 21:8, 27.
So, dear reader, where will you spend eternity? Heaven or hell? God wants you in heaven. Luke 13:24 says, “Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.” If you’re living in sin, repent and surrender to Jesus Christ before it’s too late.
Pray this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner seeking salvation. I repent and turn to you. Forgive me, cleanse me with your blood, and make me new. Come into my life and be my Lord. Guide me to live for you. Amen.”
If you’ve prayed, take these steps:
1. Find a Bible-believing Church close to your residence to attend (Hebrews 10:25).
2. Live a holy life (Hebrews 12:14).
3. Study the word of God daily (2 Timothy 2:15; John 5:39).
4. Pray always (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
5. Be heavenly-minded (Colossians 3:2).
