BIBLE READINGS:
Acts 17:30
“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent.”
Luke 13:3
“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
MESSAGE:
Heeding God’s warning to repent leads to salvation. 2 Peter 3:9 makes it clear that “The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
God is still warning people today to repent of their sins and turn to Him for salvation. But only those who are wise will heed His warning, while the children of perdition will disregard it.
Disobeying God’s Word or disregarding His warning attracts severe consequences.
In the days of Noah, the people refused to repent until the flood came and destroyed them all. Luke 17:26-27 says,
“And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.”
What is happening in the world today is worse than what happened in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, before God destroyed them with fire and brimstone. Genesis 19:24-25 records,
“Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.”
The truth is that we live in a generation where many people just want to be left alone to live their lives the way they like, and without the fear of God.
Dear reader, if you are living in sin, heed God’s warning now and repent of every sin in your life. Whether you claim to be a Christian or not, if you are living in sin, repent immediately before it is too late. Jesus says, “but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3, 5).
ACTION POINT:
Fear God, heed His warning, and repent of every sin in your life before it is too late.
CONCLUSION:
For four days we have examined what it means to say, “But at Thy Word.”
We saw that obedience is not optional in our walk with God — it is the difference between emptiness and abundance, between delay and breakthrough, between life and destruction.
God is still speaking today. His Word has not changed. The same voice that called Peter to let down the net is calling us to obey, to repent, and to walk in faith.
The question before us now is not “What did God say?” but “Will we obey His Word?”
May the Lord give us hearts that respond like Peter — not with excuses, but with surrender. Amen.
